Authentic Solo Jazz!

Vernacular Jazz is all about using your own body to dance to the music using the vintage steps from the 1920’s 30’s and 40’s.  It includes the most famous of them all, 1920’s Solo Charleston, ‘Authentic Jazz’, and Slow Dancing (or ‘Authentic Blues’ as we call it today).

Lindy Hop social dancing and performances are full of jazz steps to give it that extra bit of musicality, plus they build up your solo dancing moves and are a great workout! Like any street dance it was done for fun!  Some of the more well known jazz steps include the Suzie Q, Shortie George, Tacky Annies, Spank the Baby, Truckin’, Shim Sham Shimmy, and the 1920’s Charleston.

Our solo jazz classes are part of our Wednesday Speciality Class series, click here for more info!
